Which parts of the body is infected?
When first transmitted, the parasite enters the blood stream, then into the liver. After maturing and multiplying in the liver, the parasite returns back to the blood stream and begin to destroy red blood cells, during this phase, the parasite multiplies even more, this can also affect other organs like the kidney or brain because the clumps of infected red blood cells can block small blood vessels which interrupts the blood flow to other organs.
